Fund My Community works alongside community organisations to win funding and use it well: building self-sustaining enterprises that generate their own income, employ local people, develop young talent, and outlast the money that built them. For some, that means a one-off capital build. For others, it means securing the running costs to keep doing what already works. Either way, we manage the application, the funder relationships, and the delivery.

Billions in grant funding sits unclaimed every year — not because the need isn’t there, but because community organisations lack the time, expertise, and confidence to unlock it. The deeper problem is what happens when the money arrives: a project gets completed, the funding stops, and nothing has fundamentally changed. No new jobs, no lasting skills, no enterprise that stands on its own. This is the gap FMC was built to close — not with better grant applications, but with a fundamentally different model.
FMC takes a community need and turns it into an enterprise that funds itself. Grant capital is the mechanism, not the product. The result is a business designed from day one to operate independently once built.
A community need, an underused asset, or an opportunity the market won’t serve on its own.
valantAI builds a full enterprise plan before a single application is written.
Community Gold matches the enterprise to the right funders; we write, manage, and own delivery.
We deliver the work the funding pays for: capital builds run by vetted contractors, programmes run by your team.
Commercial revenue and ongoing income cover running costs, generating surplus that funds community access.
Every enterprise reports against a published impact framework from day one.
Community Gold — the funder matching tool — is one of four tools powered by valantAI. Together they take a community need from first conversation to a fully-designed, funded, measurable enterprise.
Funder matching at speed. The right funding for the right enterprise in minutes, not months.
The questions that change everything. Lived knowledge plus postcode data, asset mapping, and funding landscape.
Investor-grade plans. Commercial model, cross-subsidy structure, impact framework, P&L, staffing.
Measurable from day one. Automated reporting across the five impact pillars.
This is the capability no competitor can replicate. Not the matching technology — that will be commoditised within 24 months. It’s the ability to turn a community need into a fully designed, fundable, sustainable enterprise.

In November 2024, Kirkdale Neighbourhood Community Centre's boiler broke down. With no heating and no hot water, the building closed. The centre won a grant from the VCSE Energy Efficiency Scheme. FMC's Damien McKay sourced quotes from specified contractors against a tight deadline, advised throughout, and saw the works through end to end: new boiler, loft insulation, solar panels and LED lighting.
Kirkdale proves we can find the funding and deliver the works. The enterprises we’re building next take the same delivery capability and apply it to businesses designed to sustain themselves — starting with sport.
“Without the help and support from Damien it would have been an uphill struggle, if not impossible, to obtain quotes from specified contractors within the tight timescale.”

“The Centre has had a new lease of life since the works have been completed thanks to Damien.”

Where FMC helps build a community enterprise, the model is designed so the commercial side covers the cost of community access. Adult or commercial users pay, community users benefit. We will not build something that prices out the community it was built to serve.
FMC maintains a live database of UK community grant funders: regional foundations, national philanthropic bodies, local authority funds and corporate community grants. We track open windows daily, identify the funders worth approaching for your project, and run the applications through to funding.
Specific funders are not listed publicly. FMC approaches the right ones for your project on your behalf.
Heating replacements to full energy retrofits. FMC funds and delivers infrastructure upgrades that cut bills and protect services.
Community sports facilities have funding streams most clubs don't know exist. FMC finds them, applies for them, and builds the infrastructure.
Organisations managing physical assets that need capital investment. FMC handles the complexity so your team can focus on delivery.
Football and padel are FMC’s first verticals — not because sport is the only answer, but because the commercial model is clear and the social return is unmatched: discipline, aspiration, identity, community.
Two 3G football pitches. Four padel courts to WPT specification. Community coaching hub. Changing rooms. Café. And a free outdoor MUGA anyone can use without booking or paying — the daily visible proof of the enterprise’s values.
Adults pay commercial rates at peak times. Padel memberships, corporate bookings, paid coaching. The revenue covers the facility and funds free youth access off-peak. No ongoing grant dependency once the asset is built.
150+ young people accessing subsidised sport each month. FA and NGB qualifications funded for coaches. Structured progression pathways to clubs, academies, and professional environments for those with talent.
Every FMC enterprise is designed against five impact pillars before the first grant application is written. Not retrofitted after the works. Not measured at the end. Reported automatically from day one.
Structured access to sport, education and skills for young people who couldn’t otherwise reach them.
Real local jobs, measured by quality and wage level, going to people from the communities served.
Formal qualifications, coaching licences, life skills, entrepreneurship. The facility is the classroom.
Enterprises designed to bring different groups together — integration and belonging as intended outcomes.
Financial self-sufficiency as impact metric. An enterprise that folds in three years hasn’t served its community.
FMC routes funded community work to vetted contractors. When a centre’s grant covers the work, the request goes to you. You bid through the portal: scope, price, payment schedule, drawings. We handle the funder, the application, and the centre relationship.
Two founders. Delivery on the ground in Merseyside, and the commercial scaffolding to scale FMC nationally.
Born and raised in Liverpool. Founder of MCM Energy, with deep funder and contractor relationships built over years working with community centres across Merseyside. FMC’s front-facing lead: the person who walks centres through the funding process and sees the works through to completion.
We are company builders and operators with decades of experience. We take great founders with great solutions and provide all the tools needed to build, launch, and deliver. Accelerated by the latest AI technology.
Liverpool is the proof of concept. The model scales city by city — same delivery capability, same intelligence layer, same impact framework, applied to each community’s specific needs and assets.
